The magic moment, for us in love with the trout, is what we are waiting for months…the opening!
We get ready in advance with big expectations. The rumors about oversize catches drives us literally crazy. March is not the best month to go for trout hunting: the water temperatures are still very cold. The ice water is slowing down the predatory activity and sometime happen to assist to some chases, which won’t finish with a trout bite.
The opening in my region ,like every year, took place in the river that I love more, The Piave. Now the river comes with some really low levels and so – as ever – the keyword is…discreption!
In the river the undisputed queen is always the marble trout and even though in the spot I frequent we hardly meet with the monster, is better don’t be unprepared.
When I choose the rod I prefer a gear dedicated to the marble trout, the Skirmjan 732HH, a good powerful rod which doesn’t deprive me of the possibility of using baits that weighs under 10gr. Baits like the Molix Finder jerk 110 that, in my opinion, has no any rivals in its category. With this bait, even if the big fish hasn’t arrived, I always succeeded to complete a good fishing day with a lot of satisfaction.
The weight of the Molix Finder jerk 110 allow it to enter into the water with much discretion. A wide action during the steady retrieve as well as the effectiveness in the heavy currents, make it extremely versatile.
Often the trouts, during the colder months, make long chases to the baits and everything is decided to a step from our feet: in that moment the Finder gives me the possibility to pause it and start again with a little jerks, which trigger the attack.
All at sight and a dose of cold blood plays its good role.
The colors I choose for, due to the transparency of the water, are the “Silver Minnow” and the “Lugano Shad”. With muddy waters, a red tone as the color “Clown“. Both in the version slow sinking or suspending, the Molix Finder jerk 110 is becoming a cult to go for trouts in the river and if at the beginning of the season we will use it more like a classic style minnow, during the summer we will have lot of fun jerking it and see the trouts that will raise from the bottom with an incredible speed!
